Job Description

Job Summary

The Hydraulic Modeling role provides technical support for surface water, drinking water and/or wastewater modeling projects, including data collection, basic model setup, and documentation.  This role includes learning to use modeling software and assist with field activities to support system analysis and design efforts.  Work is performed under close supervision with frequent guidance provided.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about watersheds, water distribution, and/or wastewater collection system components.
  • Assist with basic model setup using software tools under guidance.
  • Support field data collection efforts including flow monitoring and field testing.
  • Help organize and input data for model development and calibration.
  • Assist in identifying system issues through model results.
  • Contribute to documentation and reporting tasks.
  • Support modeling activities for facility sizing design projects.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

Skills and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of surface water hydrology, water distribution, and/or wastewater collection systems.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and introductory experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
  • Exposure to hydrologic and/or hydraulic modeling software and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform basic data entry and model setup.
  • Develop communication skills to share findings with team members.

Experience

  • Typically, a minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience in hydraulic modeling or related field.
  • Encouraged to certify in the SMS Framework in the first six months of being in the role. 

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Has passed or is working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam required for Engineer in Training registration.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.  

Location A: $64,000 - $87,000
Location B: $71,000 - $96,000
Location C: $77,000 - $105,000
