Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This is an hourly position in   Manteno, IL that reports to the QC Supervisor. QC Inspector conducts Line clearance, routine analysis of raw materials, in-process & finished   products using a variety of testing devices & procedures to maintain product quality. Ensures that all documents for Quality compliance are   consistently preserved for Product Traceability, Customer & Regulatory audit. Ensures that SOPs are adhered to in production line & reports   non-compliance promptly for immediate correction to avoid possible product or   raw material spoilage.

SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION:

  • Conducts line inspections prior to start-up, verifies that items in the checklist listed in the Line Clearance Approval sheet are complied.
  • Preforms swab test & allergen test as per established procedures, documents & communicate results to production to release the line.
  • Conducts GMP compliance & in-line process inspection & document results in SafetyChain.
  • Conducts metal detector tests (Fe, non-Fe, & SS) every 2 hrs. for ALL running lines.
  • Record results in the SafetyChain Metal Detector Check form. Verifies that production complete the test at the start & end of the run for each running line.
  • Compares analysis results to specifications & informs the QC Supervisor if results are not in compliance.
  • Confirms compliance with all other specifications including labeling, packaging, code dating & other customer specific requirements.
  • Performs analytical tests, using standard methods of analysis specific to the raw material or finished product. The test includes but limited to TA, TS pH, leakers, viscosity, moisture, & net weight.
  • Pust “MRB-HOLD” tag on non-compliant products identified while still in the production floor.
  • Collects retention samples & puts them in Cooler Retains Area for future reference during traceability or customer complaints.
  • Conducts GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance inspection & ensures mix deck raw material is not expired.
  • Checks refrigerated raw materials in the mix deck to ensure that material are not kept unrefrigerated for extended period of time that may jeopardize product safety & quality integrity (45F max allowed).
  • Verifies compliance to SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) & prepares incident report promptly.
  • Inspects products retained for shelf life to validate product shelf life & customers claim on product defects.
  • Collects samples for micro & environmental testing as per established sampling scheme.
  • Inspects in-coming Raw Materials per QC protocol, reports non-compliance to the QC Supervisor to complete SCAR.
  • Conducts QCP & CCP tests as per protocol, documents result in SafetyChain & confirms specs compliance to Food Safety & QM systems.
  • Performs analytical tests on samples, using standard methods of analysis specific to the raw material or finished product.
  • Puts “HOLD” tag on non-conforming raw materials or finished products, record in the MRB log & removes tag as soon as Quality Management disposition is issued.
  • Maintains orderliness & cleanliness in the Lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • High School Graduate with a background in any Science courses (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology etc.) or equivalent work experience an advantage.
  • Competence in math & calculations with computer skills.
  • Good attention to details & ability to recognize non-conformance to SOP.
  • Good organization skills & detailed in reporting.
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with other departments in the company especially in production environment.
