Position: Prep Cook / Kitchen Team
Department: Back of House

Position Summary:
The Prep Cook plays a vital role in supporting kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring all food is handled in accordance with company standards. This position requires efficiency, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to food safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients including washing, chopping, slicing, and portioning food items
  • Follow standardized recipes and prep lists to ensure consistency and quality
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station at all times
  • Properly label, date, and store all food items
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks
  • Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and food safety guidelines
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
  • Support overall kitchen operations and teamwork

Safety & Sanitation:

  • Adhere to all local health department regulations and food safety standards
  • Follow proper handwashing, glove use, and hygiene practices
  • Maintain safe food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures
  • Use knives and kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or injuries
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, including slip, trip, and fall prevention

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen tools and equipment
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Qualifications:

  • Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred, but not required
  • Basic understanding of food safety practices
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions
