About Manatee Memorial Hospital (MMH):

Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, has served the citizens of Manatee, Sarasota and surrounding counties for over 70 years. PGY1 Resident provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care by providing service excellence, clinical services, distributive functions, education, and a commitment to the department’s mission through a residency program designed to meet the guidelines and accreditation standards of ASHP. He/she shall demonstrate leadership qualities, serve as a role model, and actively participate in development and revision of policies and procedures, evidence-based protocols/order sets, and quality/performance improvement projects. PGY1 Residents shall possess characteristics to successfully fulfill their responsibilities, including effective communication, flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, cooperation, and a high level of knowledge and skills applicable to their area of practice. He/she will regularly participate in interdisciplinary rounds/meetings, profile orders for medications, monitor patient’s drug therapies, provide drug information, and initiate/modify drug therapy based on medical staff approved policies and protocols including nutrition support and pharmacokinetics. He/she will provide information regarding medication therapy in both formal and informal settings to healthcare providers, residents, staff, patients, and families. They will exhibit a profound commitment to the advancement of the profession of pharmacy through continued self-monitoring and development of their own performance. Core rotations will include internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, and management as well as longitudinal experiences in drug information, medication safety, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy practice, and research. Demonstrate Service Excellence at all times and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) from an accredited institution
  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution
  • Current Pharmacist License in the State of Florida
  • Knowledge of hospital-based information system, reporting features, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong proficiency in computer literacy including but not limited to MS Office, Pharmacy clinical systems (Cerner), and Pyxis technologies
