Job Description
Job Title: Yard Staff Department: Shipping
Reports to: Shipping Supervisor
Job Summary: The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, and coordinating the shipment of trailers and related components, ensuring all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepare and package trailers, trailer parts, and accessories for shipment according to company standards.
Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
Ensure all outgoing shipments are labeled correctly and include the proper documentation (bills of lading, packaging slips, etc.)
Coordinate with the shipping coordinator to schedule pickups and track deliveries.
Inspect products for damage or defects prior to shipment and report issues to the appropriate departments.
Assist the shipping coordinator to ensure accurate shipping records and inventory management levels.
Work closely with production and inventory teams to ensure timely and complete shipments.
Comply with safety standards and procedures for material handling and equipment use.
Perform routine warehouse tasks as needed, including inventory counts and organizing materials.
Must perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
Attention to detail in preparing documentation and reviewing shipping requirements.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to interact with carriers, customers, and internal departments.
Problem solving ability to quickly address and resolve shipping and delivery issues.
Working knowledge of freight logistics and load requirements.
Familiarity with DOT regulations, shipping standards, and freight documentation.
Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Adaptability to changing schedules and production timelines.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing area for extended periods.
Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, and squat, walk, climb up and down ladders/scaffolding, stoop, push, pull and/or carry materials.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Must be able to work in hot or cold environments.
Must be able to work in indoor or outdoor environments.
May be exposed to welding, grinding, paint fumes, machinery noise, and extreme weather conditions.
