Qualifications

The Medical Assistant role requires a High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of an approved Certified Medical Assistant program. Previous clinical experience is preferred. Job Description

Job Summary: The Medical Assistant for LLUH PACE works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or physician in the Primary Care Clinic and Center to provide direct and indirect participant care within designated scope of practice.  Assists with ensuring efficient clinic operation;  utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports the excellence in customer service, provides safe patient care, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and participant population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.  Successful completion of an approved Certified Medical Assistant required. Previous clinical experience preferred.
 

Knowledge and Skills: Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; operate participant care equipment necessary to the position; perform basic participant care activities using proper body mechanics and safety precautions; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate with healthcare team; accept direction. Walk for long periods, reach, twist and bend repeatedly, sit, push, pull, crouch, stoop, stand, climb, balance, kneel, grasp; perform fine hand coordination and digital dexterity; lift at least 50 pounds repetitively to move/transport participants, equipment, and supplies. (see physical demands form) Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; perform basic participant care duties with minimal supervision. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for participant care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/participant care; discern temperature variances through touch; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Medical Assistant certification.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
