Job Description

Position Summary: Operate and maintain equipment in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for meeting plant targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction. Lead and direct Team Members to ensure optimal performance and adherence to company standards.

Primary Job Function: Responsible for assigned manufacturing tasks which include using equipment or tools to weld, stamping, swage, and/or assemble parts according to customer specifications, following standard work instructions, and/or conveying parts between processes. Responsible for safety, quality of work, production, and material flow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Work in a manufacturing environment emphasizing teamwork, safety, training, and discipline.
  • Follow standardized work procedures and work sequences for each process.
  • Work with the team to improve standardized processes/methods, identify waste, methodically eliminate waste, and standardize the new processes/methods.
  • Directly responsible for the performance of the assigned work area and Team Members.
  • Work in a team environment on safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvement projects.
  • Complete all working documentation, records, and reports as requested.
  • Understand all company policies and procedures.
  • Be proactive and reactive to resolve abnormalities in the process.
  • Use key performance indicators as a method of continuous improvement.
  • Lead and direct Team Member activity.
  • Expected to be completely versed in their area and should be able to adequately instruct anyone to perform these duties.
  • Use Kaizen in work areas for the opportunity to make the area or line efficient.
  • Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.

Interpersonal:

  • Focus on employee relations centered on trust and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate a personality that works in cooperation with other Team Leaders toward building a sense of company teamwork.
  • Work on continually improving skills as outlined during performance review.
  • Attend all required training as outlined on the training matrix.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate and work well with others in a group environment.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills are required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Physical Demands:

  • Capable of standing 100% of the time and must be able to bend, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Leader is frequently required to grip tools and objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; using hands to finger, handle, feel, twist, walk, twist (standing), bend at the waist, and do repetitive motions. The Team Leader must occasionally kneel, work from heights, and crouch. The Team Leader must frequently lift and/or move five to fifteen pounds. The Team Leader must regularly lift twenty to thirty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over thirty pounds with the assistance of a cart, pallet jack, other mechanical device, or another Team Leader. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Leader is required to talk, see, and hear.

Work Environment:

  • Standard automotive plant environment with high decibel noise levels, flashing lights, and alarms/notification systems. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, safety toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
  • TBTN- temperature-controlled environment.
  • Team Leaders are exposed to sharp metal objects in the welding and stamping processes.  They are exposed to heated metal during the welding process. As such, Team Leaders are required to wear heat protective gloves and sleeves that are made from an XKS nylon material. The PPE is designed to cover all of the arms and hands and can become hot during summer months.
