SSRAA’s mission is to enhance and rehabilitate salmon production in southern Southeast Alaska to the optimum social and economic benefit of salmon users.
Fish Culturist Regular Full-time: Hourly and Seasonal

Neets Bay Hatchery Seasonal Fish Culturist(s)
Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA) is recruiting for two seasonal fish culturists at the Neets Bay Hatchery, a remote hatchery located approximately 30 air miles from Ketchikan, Alaska. The Neets Bay Hatchery program includes approximately 140 million chum salmon and 3.5 million coho salmon. This position requires living on site in a furnished bunkhouse. Provided benefits include but are not limited to: weekly mail and supply flights, satellite internet, satellite tv, and groceries. Work consists of fish culture and basic maintenance duties at the hatchery.
The ideal candidate has the ability to develop healthy working relationships with co-workers and have a willingness to learn and share knowledge and skills. Previous experience is preferred but SSRAA will train the right applicant.
These are summer/fall positions that start immediately and run through October. These posting will remain open until filled.

Summary of Position: Under the supervision of the hatchery management team, carries out assignments in conducting the daily operations of the hatchery freshwater and saltwater rearing activities and related projects.

Core Competencies:
Physical demands: Position requires physical/repetitive work, the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, bend over, stretch, climb and sometimes work in confined spaces. Ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 lbs.
Work environment: Will require working indoors around cold running water sometimes in low light conditions with high ambient noise and working outdoors in inclement weather often around water. Some travel by boat and seaplane is required.
