Position: Business Development & Mar/Comm Intern

Duration: Starts June 1, 2026 (8-10 weeks; up to 20 hours per week)

Position Overview: 
The Business Development, Marketing & Communications Intern will support strategic initiatives across the entire organization that incorporate branding, content development, marketing, and revenue growth strategies. This internship offers experience with integrated marketing and business development while providing exposure to cross-functional organizational projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist in creating and editing marketing materials, including presentations, brochures, email campaigns, website content, and social media posts
  • Support brand messaging consistency across internal and external communications
  • Help drafting newsletters, announcements, and thought leadership content
  • Track and report on basic marketing metrics (email performance, social engagement, website analytics)
  • Assist with project planning: webinars, podcasts, annual meeting preparation and marketing, press releases and media pitches.

 Business Development

  • Assist in identifying and qualifying prospective clients, partners, or opportunities
  • Support proposal development, pitch decks, and RFP responses
  • Maintain and update prospect tracking tools
  • Prepare summaries, briefing documents, and talking points for business development meetings

 General & Administrative Support

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business development, marcom, public relations/media)
  • Participate in team meetings and planning sessions
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned

 Learning Objectives

  • Understand how marketing, communications, and business development strategies align within a professional association
  • Gain experience in professional writing, research, and presentation development
  • Develop skills in branding, PR & marketing, business development and client engagement

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal intern is curious, proactive, and eager to learn how organizations grow their brand and business. This role is well-suited for someone interested in marketing strategy, communications, public relations, sales, or corporate development.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Marketing, Communications, Business, Management, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, and marketing tools is a plus but not required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Education/Experience:

  • One to two years of higher education experience with a focus on marketing, communications or a related field
  • Rising juniors and seniors strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate research and analytical skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently as well as with a team
  • Ask questions, be curious and share ideas
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Duration and Schedule:

  • This is a temporary internship position lasting up to 10 weeks, starting June 1, 2026 (no benefits).
  • The intern is expected to work in a hybrid work (onsite at HQ at least two days a week) setting with flexible hours, approximately 20 hours per week, depending on workload and availability.
  • This is a paid internship, non-exempt hourly wage.
