Job Description
Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking talented Mechanical Design and Analysis Interns to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions.
Dynetics' Mechanical Design and Analysis Department is actively seeking college students (Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Grad) to work at our Huntsville facility over the summer break (May, June, July, and August depending on student availability). This position will allow students the opportunity to experience hands-on technical work in design, 3D modeling, engineering drawing development, and/or analysis using CAE tools and hand calculations.
Candidate(s) will receive mentorship from junior and senior engineers, and the intern will take actual ownership of design or analysis tasks. They will be given challenges that make a real impact on hardware that is delivered to our customers.
Primary Responsibilities
Support engineering design and/or analysis activities for DoD customers utilizing a broad engineering knowledge base.
Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings for production.
Develop analysis models for calculating stress response in system structures in effort to validate design.
Collaborate with other disciplines to produce excellent solutions for customers.
Basic Qualifications
Student must be working toward a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university.
Student must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
Overall GPA of 3.5 or above is required.
Student must be willing to work in-office in the Huntsville, AL area
Preferred Qualifications
Students with the following experience are desired:
Experience with CAD software such as Solidworks or CREO
Understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standard
Experience with analysis-oriented software, such as Ansys and/or FEMAP
Desire to solve complex technical challenges and learn from an excellent team of engineers
