Job Description

Milacron is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team in McPherson, KS. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support continuous improvement and layout optimization efforts within a gearbox assembly cell and parts cage. This internship offers hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, layout planning, and lean principles. The intern will work closely with engineering and operations teams to analyze current-state processes and develop space-efficient, improved layouts within existing constraints.

Work You’ll Do

  • Create a parts and information flow map for the gearbox assembly process
  • Evaluate the current layout of the gearbox assembly station and parts cage
  • Analyze material flow, work sequences, and space utilization
  • Develop and propose optimized layout concepts within current space constraints
  • Support engineering and manufacturing teams with data, visuals, and layout recommendations
  • Optimize parts locations within the parts cage
  • Develop 5S recommendations to improve organization, efficiency, and accessibility

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (second year or higher preferred) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Familiarity with basic measurement tools
  • Experience with AutoCAD or another 2D drawing tool
  • Basic understanding of engineering and manufacturing concepts
  • Strong analytical skills and interest in process improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
