Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is an entry‑level role designed for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to build a strong foundation in core accounting processes. This position supports day‑to‑day accounting operations, including invoicing, cash application, expense report review, and month‑end close activities, while gaining exposure to GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Cash

• Prepare and issue customer invoices for 3 lines of business
  • Including entering complex multi-year managed services rules for invoicing
• Apply customer payments accurately and timely to open invoices
• Manage AR inbox
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, and customer discrepancies
• Assist with AR aging reviews and support collection follow‑ups
• Complete customer credit checks

Expense Reporting

• Review employee expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper documentation
• Submit for bi-weekly payroll

General Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and follow up on variances
• Assist with month‑end close tasks, schedules, and roll‑forwards
• Maintain organized and audit‑ready supporting documentation

Controls, Reporting & Support

• Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules and documentation
• Support process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Perform ad hoc accounting and reporting tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or expected soon)
• 0–2 years of accounting or finance experience
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and the general ledger
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Proficiency in Excel (basic formulas, filters, pivot tables)
• Good organizational and time‑management skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to invoicing, cash application, or expense reporting
• Experience with an ERP system (NetSuite a plus)
• Internship or entry‑level experience in accounting or finance
