Pay Grade/Pay Range: $10.00/hour
Department/Organization: 301103 - UA National Alumni Association
Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am -3:00pm
Job Summary: The Summer Intern for the National Alumni Association at The University of Alabama, supports the outreach and information table during Summer Orientation for incoming students. This role involves learning presentation skills from staff, engaging with students, parents, and returning alumni while promoting membership to the Future Alumni Association (students) and National Alumni Association (parents).
Summer orientation is an integral part of the Membership and Marketing Department of the National Alumni Association at The University of Alabama. Students who demonstrate dedication and leadership may have additional opportunities within the organization, including ambassador or other leadership positions.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work at least three weekdays per week from May - July. Shifts begin at 7:30am and end after 12pm. No weekend work required. No holiday work required.
Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills, a professional presence, and the ability to present to small audiences with confidence. Self-motivated, adaptable individual with a positive, high-energy attitude and a commitment to customer service and excellence. Ability to lift items up to 10 lbs and stand for 1–2 hours at a time. Ability to work independently and adapt to various environments (indoors/outdoors).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in outreach, public speaking, and familiarity with social media marketing and trends.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
