ABOUT THE ROLE

Seneca’s School Partnership Programs is hiring for a School-Based Therapist to guide students to success at a Grant Elementary in San Lorenzo, CA.  School-Based Therapists are integrated into the school community where you will provide healing-centered individual and family therapy, case-management services and conduct mental health assessments. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with caregivers, teachers, counselors, and school leadership to ensure and celebrate the success of youth and families in a school setting.

ABOUT THE UE CONSTELLATION PROGRAM

Seneca’s Unconditional Education Constellation Program partners with 8 campuses across 3 school districts (Castro Valley, Fremont, and San Lorenzo) to support youth and their families in finding success in the school system. Constellation provides Counseling Enriched Classrooms (CEC) which all consists of a team of Mental Health Counselors, a teacher, and a therapist. Constellation strives to be a supportive and inclusive program dedicated to ensuring our staff feel valued, appreciated, and empowered through professional development, while providing compassionate support to our students and caregivers during some of the most challenging times of their lives. Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, including teachers, counselors, specialists, and program leadership
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy, as well as case management for a caseload of school-referred students
  • Engage caregivers and school staff in the treatment process with regular discussions on student progress and needs
  • Provide crisis intervention, including risk screening, assessment, triage, and service linkage
  • Provide consultation and/or coaching to school staff around student needs and risk management rooted in a healing centered approach
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing
  • Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of the student, including other Seneca programs or outside agencies
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience requirements:
  • Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy required
  • Registered or eligible to register with the California BBS required
  • Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is preferred
  • Reliable transportation to and from the school site and other occasional meeting locations
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

  • Starting at $73,212- $87,212 per year
    • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
