Role Overview

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Engineer, Data Center Operations to support daily activities in a high-density, mission-critical environment. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about technical operations and eager to learn data center infrastructure from the ground up. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will assist with preventative maintenance, equipment installations, monitoring, and customer support while developing the skills needed to grow within Colovore’s operations organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support & Hands-On Work

  • Assist with installing, racking, stacking, cabling, labeling, and organizing equipment.
  • Support routine facility rounds, inspections, and environmental checks.
  • Follow documented procedures (SOPs/MOPs/EOPs) with accuracy and attention to safety.
  • Help prepare work areas, tools, and materials for maintenance activities.

Preventative Maintenance & Infrastructure Monitoring

  • Assist in performing preventative maintenance tasks under the direction of senior team members.
  • Monitor power, cooling, and IT infrastructure for alerts or irregularities.
  • Report issues promptly and escalate appropriately to Engineer/Senior Engineer staff.

Customer Support & Remote Hands Services

  • Provide entry-level remote hands support such as cable tracing, visual inspections, and basic hardware tasks.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure service requests are completed accurately and documented properly.

Documentation, Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and documentation for audits and operational tracking.
  • Update tickets and maintenance records following established workflows.
  • Support inventory management, asset labeling, and parts organization.

Team Collaboration & Skill Development

  • Work closely with Engineers and Senior Engineers to learn best practices in data center operations.
  • Participate in training sessions, shadowing opportunities, and hands-on learning activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, safety-first team environment.

Key Skills

  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or IT systems—or strong willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on aptitude for working with hardware, cabling, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, safety guidelines, and technical procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation habits.
  • Good communication skills and a professional, customer-service mindset.
  • Eagerness to learn complex systems such as BMS, CMMS, monitoring tools, and ticketing platforms.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving curiosity and interest in high-density data center technologies.

Required Experience

  • 0–2+ years of data center, IT, telecom, facilities, or technical operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, cabling, or basic maintenance preferred but not required.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly through training and on-the-job experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts or on-call support as needed.
