Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst.

In this role, the successful candidate supports health research by developing, managing, and documenting analytical datasets in collaboration with faculty, scientists, and statistical analysts within the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR). This role will primarily focus on using SQL and related tools in a large-scale data environment to prepare research-ready datasets and support analytic workflows across a range of clinical and population health research projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a data analyst to the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR), supporting a range of health research projects across clinical, administrative, and survey-based data sources
  • Use SQL and related tools to extract, clean, transform, and document data for health research in a large-scale data environment
  • Develop, validate, and maintain analytical datasets for use in collaboration with scientists, faculty investigators, and statistical analysts
  • Document data sources, variable definitions, cohort construction methods, and analytic workflows to support reproducibility and transparency
  • Collaborate with faculty and research staff to translate study aims into data specifications and research-ready datasets
  • Support research studies using a range of data sources, including electronic health records, project-specific surveys and assessments, administrative datasets, and other novel data sources
  • Assist with descriptive analyses, cohort characterization, and data summaries for abstracts, manuscripts, reports, and grant submissions
  • Contribute to preparation of interim reports and project updates for investigators, study teams, and funders
  • Support grant proposal development and research reporting for externally funded projects, including NIH-funded studies
  • Stay current with evolving tools and workflows relevant to data science and AI-assisted coding in research environments
  • Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related discipline
Familiarity with SQL Server or other relational database platforms
Strong quantitative aptitude, desire to learn new skills and information, and ability to interpret complex analytic quantitative information; Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, highly creative, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with healthcare, clinical, or research data
Training or experience in health research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related applied research environments
Familiarity with AI-assisted coding or related computational tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience documenting analytical datasets, cohort definitions, or research workflows
Ability to communicate effectively with investigators, analysts, and research staff across disciplines

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,299.99 - $85,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
