Join Shiloh House, a leader in youth behavioral health and trauma-informed care. We are hiring Mental Health Counselors to work directly with at-risk youth (ages 7–18) in a structured, team-based environment.

This is a hands-on role that requires reliability, accountability, and the ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations. You will play a direct role in maintaining safety, structure, and consistency while helping youth work through behavioral and emotional challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct supervision and structure for youth in a residential setting
  • Work closely with clinicians and educators to implement treatment and behavior plans
  • Maintain firm, consistent boundaries while supporting youth through challenges
  • Use verbal de-escalation techniques in high-stress situations
  • Conduct safety checks and monitoring (room checks, 15-minute bed checks)
  • Transport youth to school, appointments, and activities
  • Support daily operations including meal prep and light upkeep
  • Document activities and participate in team meetings and training
  • Work with youth experiencing trauma, aggression, and behavioral challenges

What We’re Looking For

  • Dependable, steady, and able to perform in a structured, fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment, situational awareness, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult or confrontational situations
  • Comfortable with hands-on work and direct interaction with youth
  • Experience in youth work, behavioral health, coaching, security, corrections, or similar roles is a plus

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 23 years old (22 may be considered)
  • Meets one of the following:
    • 2 years of college (60 credits)
    • Associate’s degree
    • High school diploma + 2 years of human services experience
    • High school diploma + 30 college credits + 1 year of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

Required

  • Due to the short length of stay for these clients, mastery of direct care skills is a must
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) with a clean driving record
  • Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening as a condition of employment, in accordance with Colorado Department of Human Services regulations for child care facilities. This screening includes state criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry searches, and abuse and neglect clearances. If the applicant has lived in any other state within the past five years, equivalent background and abuse/neglect checks from those states will also be conducted. In addition, all direct care applicants are required to complete a health evaluation or physical prior to beginning service to confirm they are fit for duty.
