Carilion Clinic is looking for an intern to work with our social media team to strategize, craft and execute content for all social platforms. You’ll learn about social media marketing and engagement in healthcare and will be mentored by experienced social media professionals.
This is a hands-on, in-person role based in Roanoke, Virginia creating content that helps us meet our goals, enhances our brand and celebrates our employees.

Potential Opportunities
• Help with organic and paid aspects of our social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X
• Monitor and respond to comments and messages
• Create original, creative, engaging and shareable content
• Collaborate with team members to ensure social media strategies complement other marketing strategies and campaigns
Requirements
• Junior, senior or graduate student in English, communications, marketing or related discipline
• Experience creating content for an organization, club or department
• Knowledge and understanding of social media channels and their audiences and the ability to develop targeted messages
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Basic photo editing and social graphic design skills
• Basic photography and videography skills

• Work under the supervision of a department leader or designee to complete assigned duties.
• Assist with operational, administrative or professional tasks aligned with department needs and the intern’s academic program.
• Observe, document, and communicate work progress, findings, or issues to the supervising leader or team.
• Interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization using appropriate communication methods.
• Participate in staff meetings, project meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions as requested.
• Proactively seek out learning opportunities, manage time effectively, and appropriately prioritize assignments.
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.

What We Require:

Education: Two years of high school required. Some internships may require a bachelor's degree; or enrolled in and nearing completion of an undergraduate degree or terminal degree in a field relevant to the internship

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Clinical interns may be required to be enrolled in an accredited professional program (e.g., pharmacy, nursing, allied health) and meet regulatory or licensure-related requirements.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work efficiently, manage time wisely, and follow policies and procedures with minimal supervision. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and willingness to learn. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Must be at least 16 years of age.  Assignments that use chemicals or power tools require intern to be at least 18 years of age.
