Job Summary: The IT Systems Administrator I is primarily responsible for the overall maintenance, deployment, and configuration of the organization’s IT systems. The IT Systems Administrator I will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of our organization's IT infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for the maintenance, support, and administration of software systems and their supporting environments. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to address technical issues, implementing system upgrades, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our IT environment. This position reports to the Information Systems Manager and requires a valid driver’s license and current liability insurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
System Maintenance and Security
Facilitate system updates, patches, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security
Implement security measures in conjunction with security teams to protect the organization's data and systems
Maintain system backups to ensure data integrity and continuity of operations
Monitor systems’ performance and ensure optimal system efficiency
Technical Support and Development
Manage and support servers, desktops, laptops, and other IT equipment
Install, configure, and update software applications as needed
Deploy new systems and technologies to improve efficiency and operability
Work closely with IT team members and other departments to understand and address their technical needs
Create and update technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Miscellaneous
Attend staff meetings and quarterly trainings
Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars, benchmarking, and reviewing professional publications/sites
Take initiative; demonstrate strong decision-making and organizational skills
Initiate best practices; develop efficiency improvements
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by your supervisor
QualificationsEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Experience working in a cloud-based enterprise environment
Experience working with Azure Active Directory, Intune, and the Microsoft 365 environment
Familiarity with system security best practices. Applicable certifications for systems administration (i.e., CompTIA Server+ or RHCSA)
General
Reliable transportation required
A flexible work schedule including some schedule changes, some weekends, and evening shifts to meet the department’s needs
Detail-oriented and computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel required
Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently to deliver quality work within deadlines
