About the Role:

At Barre Law, we are seeking an experienced and resilient Accounts Receivable / Billing Clerk to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring timely and accurate billing while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is confident, detail-oriented, and comfortable calling clients and collecting payments professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Call clients to collect payments on outstanding invoices and provide responsive support for billing inquiries.
  • Prepare, enter, and distribute invoices accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile accounts, track payments, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate with the Founding or Managing Attorney to draft client retainers and amendments.
  • Work closely with the legal team to ensure clients are up to date on balances and payment terms.
  • Prepare billing-related correspondence and applications to government agencies.
  • Assist with bank deposits and month-end/year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of legal fee payments and payment reports.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in accounts receivable, billing, or bookkeeping is required.
  • Comfortable making phone calls to clients and handling challenging conversations professionally.
  • Thick-skinned, persistent, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Compassionate approach to working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
