Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Material Handler / Saw Operator is responsible for handling, cutting, and preparing steel materials to support production operations in a safe and efficient manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

More specifically, the individual will:

  • Handle and process steel materials according to production requirements.
  • Operate saw equipment to cut steel to specified dimensions.
  • Punch and drill holes in steel components as required.
  • Accurately read and use a tape measure to ensure proper measurements and cuts.
  • Utilize common shop tools safely and effectively.
  • Load and unload materials using a forklift.
  • Organize and stage materials for production use.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS 

  • High School Diploma/ GED.
  • Certificate or degree in welding preferred.
  • Welding knowledge through experience or vocational training.
  • Ability to pass a preliminary weld test.
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience welding, cutting, and/or fabricating metal parts.
  • Experience in wire feed welding, MIG or TIG welding.
  • Knowledge of overhead crane and forklift operation.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee:

  • Must be able to frequently stoop/bend.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands and arms.
  • Must be able to regularly stand and walk. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work up to 15 feet off the ground, to work inside of bins on units, to climb ladders on occasion.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
