Job Summary

The Director of Physician Services provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for physician practice groups and clinics. This position is responsible for directing clinic operations, provider relations, staffing, compliance, and business development. The role ensures high levels of provider efficiency, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the organization's goals. The Director works closely with senior leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance practice performance and care delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of assigned physician practices, including scheduling, staffing, provider support, and patient services.
  • Develops and implements operational policies, workflows, and strategic plans to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Collaborates with physicians and senior leadership to address financial planning, cost control, and revenue cycle improvements.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, licensure, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages onboarding, training, evaluation, and performance improvement of clinic managers and staff.
  • Supports quality initiatives, service excellence, and operational performance metrics.
  • Monitors provider productivity and scheduling compliance.
  • Facilitates regular staff meetings, communications, and resolution of concerns from staff or patients.
  • Serves as a liaison between clinics and departments such as finance, HR, credentialing, and IT.
  • Supports business planning, expansion initiatives, and implementation of new service lines or providers.
  • Coordinates training and continuing education for staff.  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Strong knowledge of physician practice operations and healthcare business principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), Microsoft Office Suite, and data reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance, credentialing, and reimbursement practices.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and collaborative leadership.  


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Preferred).

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) or related certification (Preferred).

Experience

  • One (1) year of healthcare management experience in a leadership role within a physician practice or hospital setting (Required).
  • Experience working directly with multiple physicians and clinical teams (Required).
