The Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance Sandbox team within Applied Research and Technology is seeking an exceptional intern candidate to support one or more activities related to: Development of AI/ML models for object detection within robotic perception applications. Development of message authentication techniques for GPS & Galileo satellite navigation services.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our talented team of engineers and with key stakeholders to advance the next generation of resilient navigation and surveillance technology. This role is onsite, in Melbourne, Florida. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

• You will support development of AI/ML models that can be used in vision-based perception systems. 
• You will develop and test software to implement navigation message authentication. 

What You Will Learn:

• You will gain practical experience in applying AI/ML techniques to solve problems in civil aviation that will aid resilient navigation and surveillance.
• You will develop a deep understanding of message authentication techniques and apply them to improve resilient navigation in civil aviation.
• You will gain practical experience in developing real-time embedded software that will be hosted on one of Collins’ flagship avionics products.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets, particularly in either Python or MATLAB environments.
• Naturally inquisitive and skilled in exploratory data analysis, formulating and testing hypotheses. 
• Results-oriented and motivated to provide solutions with measurable benefit to our customer and business.
• Ability to communicate with clarity and precision. 
• Currently enrolled in Engineering or Science program with proven interest and skills.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
