Engineering Intern

Ducommun’s Huntsville Performance Center is seeking an Engineering Intern to work full-time during the summer.  The Engineering intern will assist Project and Mechanical Engineers in fixture design, fixture 3D prints, specification review, work instruction creation/changes, and production assembly support.  Ideal intern will have completed college courses in engineering, have a willingness to learn and apply skills to assist engineers in daily tasks.

Job Summary

  • Assist in Fixture Design
  • Fixture 3D prints
  • Specification reviews
  • Creation/ Changes of work instructions, layouts, process flow, machine utilization.
  • Electronic production Assembly support
  • Teamwork with other engineers, managers, supervisors, and associates to solve small and large assignments.
  • Develop work instructions for manufacturing and equipment operation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Able to work effectively within a team environment and across functional groups.
  • Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
  • Multitask, good decision making, self-motivated, and problem solve.
  • Must be computer literate, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of engineering principles required.
  • Ability to read and understand load plans
  • Ability to read and understand production drawings
  • Basic component identification skills
  • Ability to build electronic assemblies

Required Experience and Education

  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Team oriented willingness to learn.
