The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) has an immediate opening for an undergraduate student in Golden, Colorado to assist with laboratory work studying the performance and reliability of materials for PV modules. The Component Lifetime Assessment and Weathering Team focuses on the durability energy technologies, including the materials used in photovoltaic modules and the cables and connectors used to transmit electricity. Example tasks will include fabricating samples using soldering and lamination techniques, testing connector electrical and physical characteristics, optical characterization, chemical characterization (e.g. spectroscopy and/or differential scanning calorimetry).
This is an excellent opportunity for a student who desires to obtain relevant laboratory experience in preparation for graduate school or a career in industries including those involving materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical device engineering, electronics packaging, reliability, or physics.
A continued internship is anticipated, including through both the summer and school year. This position can be part-time during the academic year and has the capacity for full-time work during academic breaks and holidays.
