Job Description

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Graduate Data Analytics Intern to join our Analytics / Business Intelligence department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work model. Reporting to a Senior Data Analyst / Analytics Supervisor, the Data Analytics Intern supports MAPMG in making strategic, data-driven decisions by assisting with the analysis, manipulation, and reporting of financial and medical operational data. In this role, you will work with MAPMG data systems and tools to develop analytical reports and insights that inform business performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

You can expect to:

  • Develop data queries, database tables, and analytical infrastructure to support reporting and business insights.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Partner with analysts and internal stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Provide analytical support for monthly reporting, business cases, and operational performance monitoring.
  • Analyze financial and medical operational datasets to identify trends, performance drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Respond to stakeholder requests for detailed data analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support the development of ETL processes and assist with maintaining data structures used for reporting and analytics.

What is required:

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Health Informatics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field. Recent graduates are not eligible for the internship program.
  • Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 12 weeks.
  • Previous experience or coursework related to data analytics, healthcare data, or business intelligence is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with Tableau or Power BI required. Familiarity with Excel and relational databases strongly preferred. Exposure to Python, SAS, or Databricks is a plus.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, structure ambiguous problems, and communicate insights clearly.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to present analytical findings to stakeholders.
  • Must be able to commute to the Washington, D.C. regional office as required for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
  • Must provide documentation of required COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as a condition of employment.

The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
