Job Description

Position Summary: An obstetrical team member that assists the clinical staff with the regulatory reporting and coordinating patient flow from admission to discharge.

Education, License & Cert: High School Grad or Equivalent

Experience: Preferred customer service experience

Essential Functions: 

• Patient registration / verification and initiation of patient workflow, including clerical work and chart assembly according to unit guidelines 

• Completes regulatory and state reporting in a concise and timely manner according to agency standards

• Completes reporting and clerical work flows for unique patient encounter: including fetal death/ demise, adoption, surrogacy, and maternal or neonatal transfer of care • Assists and actively participates in maintaining a safe environment on a secured unit. Recognizes, trouble shoots and initiates corrective action needed following the unit specific policy. Registration of all unit and patient visitors

• Review and Revise unit specific obstetrical coding and billing 

• Demonstrates strong customer service and organizational skills that allows for effective communication to the clinical team

• Completes clerical and reporting tasks related to all deliveries (vaginal and Cesarean) including admission in epic stork, creation of medical record, and creation of case log for scheduled procedures

• Assists clinical team with directed patient care and perform screenings when necessary

Other Duties:

 • Assists with the orientation of new employees

• Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments as appropriate

• Attends and participates in unit‐based council and committees

• Follows hospital and nursing department policies and procedures during emergency or stressful
