Job Summary:
As a Caregiver with Assisting Hands, you will provide compassionate and reliable custodial and personal care services to clients in their homes, following the guidance of the Staffing Coordinator and in alignment with each client’s personalized Plan of Care. Your role will play a vital part in ensuring clients maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment while receiving the support they need to live independently.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
Qualifications:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a home care, long-term care, or similar setting is preferred.

  • Care Manager
Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a Clean & Safe Environment

  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms.
  • Assist with washing dishes, laundry, and other necessary cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic living space.
  • Ensure the home environment is comfortable, organized, and conducive to the client’s well-being.
2. Provide Personal Care & Assistance

  • Assist clients with daily personal care activities, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, shaving, and transferring.
  • Support clients with mobility, ambulation, and exercise routines as prescribed in the Plan of Care.
  • Provide assistance with eating, and other activities of daily living as needed.
3. Nutritional Support

  • Help with meal preparation, serving, and feeding to ensure clients receive balanced nutrition.
  • Assist clients with meal planning and ensure dietary needs are met according to their health plan.
4. Monitor Client Health & Well-Being

  • Observe and report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the Staffing Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate records of personal care activities, including vital signs, fluid intake/output, and other health metrics as needed.
  • Monitor and document any significant behavioral changes in clients.
5. Support Mobility & Physical Activities

  • Assist clients with mobility aids (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, hoyer lifts) to ensure safe movement.
  • Encourage and assist with prescribed physical exercises, including range-of-motion routines.
  • Help teach and support family members with basic care routines and safety measures.
6. Medication Assistance

  • Provide assistance with self-administered medications, including:
     
    • Retrieving, reading labels, and helping the client take medications as prescribed.
  •  
    • Supporting clients in swallowing medications, as needed, and ensuring proper administration.
  •  
    • Recording medication assistance and ensuring proper storage of medications.
  •  
    • Facilitating medication intake with water or other necessary items.
  •  
7. Infection Control & Compliance

  • Follow infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Caregiver Handbook, the Policy and Procedure Manual, and the Caregiver Training Manual.
Working Hours:

  • Hours vary depending on client needs and assignments. Flexible shifts are available 24/7 based on your availability. Note: We cannot guarantee a fixed number of hours.
