Job Summary

Looking to break into project management and actually learn how things get done in a real organization?

The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) is seeking a motivated and curious intern to join our team. This role offers hands-on exposure to real projects, tools, and decision-making processes that drive enterprise initiatives.

You won’t just observe—you’ll contribute. From tracking project progress to participating in stakeholder meetings, you’ll gain practical experience that builds a strong foundation for a career in project or program management.

Essential Functions:

  • Support project managers in planning, tracking, and executing initiatives

  • Assist with maintaining project documentation (plans, schedules, RAID logs)

  • Participate in team meetings and help capture key decisions and action items

  • Help track project milestones, risks, and dependencies

  • Conduct basic research and data analysis to support project decisions

  • Assist in preparing status reports and presentations for stakeholders

  • Learn and use project management tools (e.g., ClickUp)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how different parts of the organization work together

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

  • Interest in project management, operations, or organizational strategy

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Currently attend a Maryland high school as a junior/senior​​

  • Currently attend a Maryland higher education institution​​

  • Graduated from a Maryland high school, but currently attend a non-Maryland higher education institution​​

  • Graduated from a Maryland high school, and is currently enrolled or graduated from a career technical training program

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

  • Curious mindset with a willingness to learn new concepts quickly

  • Basic understanding of project management concepts (or strong interest in learning)

  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Background Check                                        

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed. 

Probation 

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
