Extended School Year (ESY) Speech Language Pathologist   Job Title: ESY Speech Language Pathologist Location): Boston, On-site Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal
  Summary of position: The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.   The Manville School, a highly successful and reputable educational program, is seeking an ESY Speech-Language Pathologist for July 6 - July 31, 2026 (onboarding date: 6/23/2026). The Extended School Year (ESY) Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides weekly activities centered on pragmatic language with the addition of receptive and expressive language components for K-11 students. The Speech-language Pathologist develops activities that are accessible to students based on their IEP accommodations. Students receive instruction on social communication skills such as nonverbal communication, perspective-taking, using a social filter, and observing the social landscape. The Speech-Language Pathologist then facilitates a small classroom group activity (8-11 students) to reinforce and help students apply learned skills in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.   What’s in it for me?

Essential duties:
  • Develops and implements developmentally appropriate activities for students in grades K-11. 
  • Collaborates with special education teacher to ensure compliance with students’ IEP goals, objectives, and accommodations.
  • Develops and implements classroom behavior management appropriate to the age and social/emotional levels of students.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Writes progress reports for students with SLP services.
  • Fosters positive self-esteem and social growth of students through social skills activities.
  • Creates and maintains a respectful classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning.
  • Supports daily electives blocks.
Qualifications Education:
  • Master of Arts or Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA Certification).
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a school setting.
Training:
  • First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint trainings is required or ability to participate in annual training at beginning of employment and annually or as needed throughout tenure.
