Description

The Floater Teacher (Substitute Teacher) plays a crucial role in maintaining the continuity and quality of the educational experience for children in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage different classroom environments effectively. The Floater Teacher will work with children ranging from infants to preschoolers, providing instruction, care, and support as needed across multiple classrooms within the center.

Requirements

Classroom Coverage:

  • Step into classrooms as needed to cover for absent teachers, ensuring that the learning environment remains structured and engaging.
  • Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or create age-appropriate activities that align with the center’s curriculum.
  • Provide care and active supervision for children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Flexible to cover where needed, this includes but not limited to Teacher Lunch and Bathroom breaks.

Child Development:

  • Support the developmental needs of children by engaging them in educational activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
  • Adapt to the needs of different age groups, from infants to preschoolers, ensuring that all activities are developmentally appropriate.

Behavior Management:

  • Utilize positive behavior management techniques to maintain a calm and orderly classroom.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines that are consistent with the center’s policies.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other teachers, assistants, and staff members to ensure a smooth transition between classroom teachers.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff to understand the needs and expectations of each classroom.

Parent Communication:

  • Communicate with parents as needed, providing updates on their child’s day and addressing any immediate concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with families.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • CDA or enrolled in a CDA program
  • Experience working with Children from 0-5 years old
  • Clean background check
