The ideal candidate will be enrolled in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program, have completed two or three years of education, and have previous phlebotomy experience or certification.

Position Highlights

Position Summary:

The MLS Intern is responsible for supporting laboratory operations under the supervision of a certified MLS/CLS/MT.  Core responsibilities include patient identification, specimen collection, processing and testing patient specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The MLS Intern will also be responsible for organizing specimen collection requests, specimen transport, send out testing, testing dispersal, waived point-of-care testing procedures, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards and practices.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program and have completed two or three years of education.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience or Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.
