Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine safety checks and rounds on residents at scheduled intervals
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Dressing and grooming (as needed overnight)
- Mobility assistance and repositioning
- Respond promptly to call lights, alarms, and emergency situations
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to supervisor
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and overnight observations
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment (light housekeeping, laundry, etc.)
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents who may be anxious or confused
- Assist with early morning routines and prepare residents for day shift staff
Qualifications
- Previous caregiving experience preferred (assisted living, home care, or nursing home)
- CNA/GNA certification preferred but not always required
- Ability to stay awake, alert, and attentive throughout overnight shift
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Capable of responding quickly in emergency situations
