The Details

Our environmental underwriters focus on two fundamental questions: Should Liberty Mutual write a policy for a particular customer? What is a fair price for the risk that we would incur by writing the policy? 

Join our team and you’ll challenge yourself to uncover these and other answers. 

As an Underwriting Trainee, you’ll draw upon your strong analytic, communication, and negotiation skills to understand our customers and their needs, and how to profitably accept the environmental risks that our policies cover.

What you’ve got

  • You have 0-2 years of professional experience. 
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance or related 
  • You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service. 
  • You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education.
  • You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid driver's license for regular travel to customer locations.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
