Job Description

POSITION: Family Ministries Summer Internship
DEPARTMENT: Family Ministry
DATES: June 1- August 28 (start date and end date somewhat flexible depending on candidate’s schedule)
HOURS WORKED: Working 15 hours per week in addition to key dates, where full days will be required (July 5-10, July 11-12*, July 27-31, August 10-15*) *involves overnight travel
SALARY: $230.77/week ($3,000 \ 13 weeks)
FLSA: Non exempt

Overview:

The Family Summer Intern will commit to coming alongside the Children’s and Youth Teams to assist in preparation for and participation in key summer events and development of programming for Families in the summer and Fall.

Key Ministry Dates:

CM Kids’ Camp (VBS): July 6-10

YM Camping: July 11-12 

AHOB YM Volunteering: July 27-31

YM Mission Trip: August 10-15

*Vacation allowed outside of these dates with approval*

Requirements:

Weekly Responsibilities will include:

3-7 Hours | Preparation for Summer Events (Lighter post ES Kids Camp)

This includes curriculum development, ordering and organizing supplies, prepping instructions, developing a communication plan with volunteers and parents

2-3 Hours | Meetups

Meet up with key volunteers and students regularly to disciple and encourage (2x week)

1-3 Hours | Meetings

Weekly 1 hour Meeting with MC or Lindsey Schultz to receive feedback, go through a study, and review needs for the upcoming weeks with occasional attendance in portions of the weekly CM and YM meetings as needed.

1-2 Hours | Weekly: Summer Family Events

Brainstorm, develop, and lead 2 family summer events, with support from other staff.

1-2 Hours | Weekly: Misc. Ministry Volunteer

Serving as a volunteer for other various CM and YM gatherings in the summer

2-3 Hours | Weekly (post ES Kids Camp): Fall Prep

Prepping for the Fall by organizing supplies, reviewing curriculum and lesson plans, and other general assistance

Qualifications:

  • Growing relationship with Jesus with a regular practice of scripture and prayer
  • Desire to explore professional work in ministry to kids and students
  • Highly relational with both children and adults
  • Organized and detail oriented

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set; experience and training; licensure, certifications, and ordination; and other organizational needs.
