Job Description

WestCoast Children’s Clinic, located in Oakland, California, is a non-profit community psychology clinic that provides mental health services to Bay Area children, youth and families. Position Details 

Title: Summer Intern

Classification: Temporary Part-Time/Temporary Full-Time, Non-exempt (Hourly)

Location: Oakland, CA / In-person

Compensation:

  • $18.00 per hour

WestCoast Children’s Clinic is seeking a motivated and community-driven college student to join our team as a Summer Intern. This hands-on internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience with a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of children and families.

As an intern, you’ll actively contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate across departments, and build practical skills in areas such as administration, research, finance, and program support. Whether you're exploring a future career in public health, psychology, or nonprofit operations, this role provides valuable exposure to how impactful community-based organizations operate day-to-day.

The ideal Summer Intern is eager to learn and takes initiative, while making a difference and gaining experience that will support their academic and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete project work aligned with the agency’s strategic goals and daily operations
  • Provide administrative support to various programs and departments
  • Report to an assigned department supervisor or director and meet regularly

Additional duties may include:

  • Perform clerical tasks such as maintaining files and organizing documents
  • Conduct local outreach (emails, newsletters, etc)
  • Assist with preparing research materials and informational documents
  • Maintain and reconcile databases in both paper and electronic filing systems
  • Shadow multiple office roles and gain exposure to various functions
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Current 3rd- or 4th-year college student (Fall 2026 incoming junior or senior), preferably in psychology, public health, or a related field
  • Highly preferred: Interest in or experience with finance, accounting, research, and/or community outreach
  • Demonstrated office administrative experience
  • Proficient in general office tasks, including typing, filing, operating office equipment, and maintaining professional phone etiquette
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Mac OS
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. with assistance

Position Details:

This is an hourly, part-time to full-time position (20-40 hours per week), Monday through Friday. This temporary position runs approximately from June through August or September, depending on the student’s school schedule, and does not include benefits.

The role is 100% in-person and based at our office located at 3301 E. 12th St., Oakland, CA.
