Classification Title:

STU AST - NON-CLERICAL & ADMIN

Classification Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. Successful preemployment screening including a background check. 

Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. 

As a People and Culture Intern at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for providing support to projects and initiatives within the Office of People & Culture across a variety of HR disciplines. In addition, you will support the daily operations of the UFHCI-P&C team and provide day-to-day administrative support to functional HR processes. This may include:

  • Assisting with developing internal training courses and programs.
  • Supporting data collection and clean-up for internally tracked metrics.
  • Coordinating talent management activities such as recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Working with others throughout the P&C team to process HR transactions and training enrollments.
This is an intern-level position, ideal for candidates with an interest in exploring a career in Human Resources in higher education, research, healthcare, or similar industries.  Expected Salary:

$15.00 hourly 

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain excellent attention to detail. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including proofreading. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and protected employment data with discretion. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
Preferred:

Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Awareness of and/or exposure to foundational HR policies and best practices.
  • Awareness of and/or exposure to foundational learning theories, and best practices.
  • Experience in a professional office environment, particularly within higher education, healthcare, research, or similar industries. 
Qualities: 
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods and information.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Exposure to and basics skills in using eLearning technologies (eg. Canvas, Articulate, video editing software).
  • Public speaking skills and experience presenting information in a professional setting.
