Currently seeking a Physical Education Teacher for Brooklyn Blue Feather in Sheepshead Bay.

Role Description:

  • Full Time | Monday-Friday
  • Hours: 8:30 A.M-3:30 P.M
  • 10 month program with a 30 day summer session

Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental disabilities of students and their impact on performance and functioning.

  • Assess students’ needs and abilities and develop individualized physical education programs based on findings.

  • Develop an Adaptive Physical Education Curriculum that incorporates current theory, research, and practice and meet the needs and abilities of school age students with autism and other disabilities.

  • Prepare daily lesson plans with activities that are aligned to NYS Common Core Standards, informed by authentic assessment data which advance goals and as applicable, reflect the objectives on the IEP; and progress reports as needed.

  • Incorporate goals and clinical recommendations into each student’s program.

  • Work directly with students, engaging in and supervising all physical education activities and coordinate staffs’ interactions with students.

Annual Salary: $79,760-$81,411

Qualifications

  • BA or MA in Special Education/Physical Education required. NYS Teacher Certification preferred, eligibility for certification required.
  • Ability to work effectively with children with developmental disabilities and autism.
