Extended School Year (ESY) Assistant Teacher, Special Education   Job Title: ESY Assistant Teacher, Special Education Location): Boston, On-site Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal   Summary of position: The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.   The Manville School, a highly successful and reputable educational program, is seeking an ESY Assistant Teacher for July 6 - July 31, 2025 (onboarding date: 6/23/2026).  As a member of a three-person, multidisciplinary classroom team, the Assistant Teacher supports implementation of lessons and carries out curriculum instruction, tailored to meet students’ specific learning needs/behavioral profiles.  The Assistant Teacher will actively participate in academic instruction and classroom management while learning and applying effective evidence-based behavior management techniques. The Assistant Teacher will participate in leading activities blocks (electives) and attend field trips.   What’s in it for me?

Essential duties:
  • Implement unit and lesson plans following the students’ IEP goals and objectives with supervision by the lead Special Education Teacher.
  • In conjunction with the classroom team (lead teacher and behavior support personnel), implement classroom behavior management plan appropriate to the age and social/emotional levels of students.
  • Foster positive self-esteem and social growth of students through appropriate curriculum and behavioral structure.
  • Create and maintain a respectful classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning.
Qualifications  Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required.
Experience:
  • Experience working with children/students with special needs, preferably in a classroom setting.
