At Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services, we are helping to create brighter, healthier futures for our patients and their families. We are the Piedmont Triad's only private psychiatric hospital meeting the chemical dependency illnesses and behavioral healthcare needs of those in our community.  Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This opportunity is for a full-time Licensed Therapist with a convenient weekday schedule of 8am - 5pm.

Job Duties:

  1. Interviews patients and develops the psychosocial history within established timeline.  Assesses the therapeutic needs of the individual and family.  Developes appropriate treatment objectives and treatment summaries.
  2. Acts as the patient and family primary contact during the patient's stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team.
  3. Conducts psychoeducational therapy groups and is the primary individual responsible for discharge planning activities.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related human services field.
  • Current license from the State of North Carolina (LCMHC / LCMHCA, LCSW / LCSWA, LMFT / LMFTA).
  • One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with adolescents and/or adults. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these; abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy.  Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in order to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, adolescents, adults and patient families in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems. Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan. Employees assigned to adolescents must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and developmental stages and must possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.
  • Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
  • Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking face-to-face as well as on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques). Ability to appropriately and professionally interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
