DRYER OPERATOR   Pilot Chemical, a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals, is searching for Production / Dryer Operators to join our night shift team in Avenel, NJ.

Rotating Shifts – must be able to work a rotating shift schedule. After training on the day shift you will rotate between first, second, and third shifts (8-hour shifts) every 3-4 months. Should be flexible to possibly work 12-hour shifts and weekends in the future. 
Safety is #1 – Monthly safety training, prescription safety glasses allowance, bi- annual safety boot allowance and all PPE and Pilot uniforms are provided.

  • Perform routine checks on ancillary equipment and monitor dryers.
  • Control, monitor and make necessary adjustments on control systems and manually operated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot processes, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
  • Communicate production issues with the production supervisor, operations manager, mechanics, and plant manager as appropriate.
  • Report any safety issues immediately to the supervisor and if necessary, take appropriate action needed, including system shutdown, if unsafe work practice is witnessed to prevent injury or environmental release.
  • Ensure safe and efficient performance of production and project work following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Act as a resource for other Operators and/or Maintenance Mechanics on job tasks and prioritization of work activities.
  • Ensure quality control by performing testing on products and sampling when required.
  • Enter production and in-process quality test results.
  • Operators must review with the next shift operator the status of all in-process operations.  Information must be accurately and clearly communicated to ensure continued operation of the plant and to produce quality products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operators are responsible for seeing that the security of the plant is maintained throughout their shift.
  • Complete all duties assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Required Competencies
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good math and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong work ethic and independently motivated to produce results.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in an empowered team environment, including the ability to effectively communicate, share information, resolve issues, give and receive both positive and negative feedback in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ability to reach all work areas in the plant (i.e. climb ladders, negotiate catwalks, handle heights to 50 feet, etc.), to lift twist and turn up to 50 lb. (i.e. open and close large valves, inspect equipment, and don emergency equipment as needed.
Preferred Competencies
  • Prior manufacturing warehouse experience preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry experience preferred.
