Circle of Care for Families and Children of Passaic County, Inc. of Woodland Park, NJ is seeking to onboard a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Department Intern (Summer Unpaid Internship) who is:

As a Care Management Organization (CMO), we partner with families to design, implement, and manage individual service plans (ISPs) using both informal and community support for children with complex needs including behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities.

Summary of Position:

The role of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Department Intern is to gain experience working in a youth serving non-profit organization. This is a temporary, unpaid summer internship intended to provide hands-on learning and professional development.

The Intern will work closely with the Compliance Analyst and QAPI Director to learn about privacy and electronic health records, as well as the NJ Children's System of Care (CSOC) and the role of the Care Management Organization (CMO) in the system.

Essential Functions of the Position (including but not limited to):

• Maintain high integrity while modeling the core values of Circle of Care
 • Assess current chart auditing processes and assist in identifying improvements, including transitioning to electronic tracking methods where applicable
 • Review completeness of Electronic Health Records
 • Assure accuracy and catalog specific consents, as needed
 • Assess accuracy of documentation
 • Review and prepare documents for secure shredding
 • Locate and merge duplicate charts
 • Provide support as needed, i.e., administrative support and outreach to confirm service delivery
 • Comply with all State regulations (e.g., Medicaid, HIPAA) and Agency standards including, but not limited to, quality and timeliness of all required documentation
 • Attend QAPI Team meetings
 • Attend trainings as assigned

Education and Experience:

Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, public health, social work, public policy, or non-profit administration)
