Job Duties and Responsibilities

Complies with department and division guidelines.

Performs assessments, diagnoses, and therapeutic interventions, as demonstrated by knowledge and competency consistent with professional practice standards.

Performs psychological testing and evaluations.

Provides consultation services for other treatment providers and customers.

Contributes to the organization and the community by participating in clinical supervision of others, educational presentations, and/or research.

Demonstrates knowledge of current standards of practice, demonstrates competency by performing at professional practice standard.

Completes work in a timely, organized and professional manner.

Engages in weekly supervision with licensed psychologist and review of clinical cases.

Is able to identify areas for self-improvement, pursue necessary education/training and shares knowledge with others.

Serves as a clinical resource for others.

Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance/

Provides service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient’s age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.

Presents a courteous and helpful demeanor, appropriate for age, to all patients, visitors, other employees/medical staff members, or any other person an employee encounters while representing the organization.

Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Plan.  Complies with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan and Compliance Policies and Procedures, including training requirements.  Participates in compliance activities under the direction of the Department Manager and Corporate Compliance Officer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Requirements

PhD or PsyD Candidate in an APA Doctoral or CPA-accredited clinical (preferred), counseling, or school psychology doctoral program; OR a non-accredited school that has had or has been approved for an APA site visit Comprehensive Examination successfully completed Dissertation proposal approved by APPIC National Match ranking deadline Completion of a minimum of 1000 total practicum hours, of which 250 should be Intervention and Assessment hours and 100 should be Supervision hours Master’s degree (or equivalent) completed Completion of all required coursework for doctoral degree (other than dissertation/doctoral project) Approval to participate in the APPIC National Match  Must have knowledge of psychiatric terminology, the process of diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders Must have organizational and leadership skills. Must be able to demonstrate good independent judgment, adapt to new duties and work in a changing environment. Must demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of psychotherapy and have basic research skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, and social facility are required for the ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and to provide education to staff and in the community.  Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment.

Primary contacts are with clients, families and other staff to provide therapy, education, and exchange information.

Working Conditions (Check one or all depending on the working conditions of the position.)

_X_   Normal hospital working environment.  Requires good verbal and written      communication skills.  Must be able to speak and read the English language.

_X_   Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and      pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance.

_X_   Work is primarily facility based in an outpatient behavioral health setting and/or      correctional facility.

__      Some work may occur in a community setting and may include contacts in a       high crime area and in extremes of temperature.

__     Category I:  Job classification includes ALL employees who have occupational      exposure* to blood borne pathogens* (blood or body fluids) while performing their      job duties.
