About the Role:

To ensure that all deliveries are to Hotel specifications, in accordance with Food and Beverage requisitions, purchase orders, storing, handling and issuing of stock.  Issues stock to throughout the hotel paying close attention to quantity & units of measure.  Responsible for using the first in, first out method to rotate stock.

Essential Functions:

  • Checks each item at delivery against invoice/packing slip, weighing, counting, verifying prices against specifications to verify accuracy of delivery.  Notifies supervisors when shipments arrive or if the shipments fail to arrive so that any discrepancies can be resolved. Stores and rotates all stock properly so that all items are fresh.
  • Fills requisitions paying close attention to quantity, size, and weight issued. Advises supervisor of items that are low or out of stock so that they can be reordered.
  • Delivers supplies throughout hotel in timely fashion.  Ensures proper paperwork is issued and verifies delivery with party accepting supplies.
  • Assists in conducting month-end inventories, audits, or recounts.
  • Monitors and documents cooler and freezer temperatures to avoid spoilage.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
  • Performs other duties as requested, such as cleaning up unexpected spills or special guest requests.
  • Participates in hotel and departmental meetings.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of the appropriate stock levels for any given item kept in inventory and the amount of time the item will be fresh.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to track and receive specific volumes of deliveries.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language sufficient to complete forms and inventories, read billings and invoices, and communicate with co-workers and purveyors.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on a hand cart or truck weighing a maximum of 300 lbs. Goods must be moved one or more items at a time, depending on size and weight, at a continuous schedule.

Qualifications:

Education:

Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred or equivalent.

Experience:

Food and beverage and experience at a similar volume hotel preferred.  Experience in shipping and receiving preferred. 

Licenses and Certificates:

Forklift certificate is preferred.  If not, training can be provided on-site.
