The ideal candidate will be a College Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited mechanical engineering program with completed coursework in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Strong communication, motivation, and attention to detail are essential.

2026 OTJ Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern

Qualifications, Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • College Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited mechanical engineering program
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, In Design, Photoshop, Revit (preferred)
  • Assist with the drafting of Mechanical and Plumbing Systems associated with Construction Documentation.
  • Assist with developing internal load calculations using Trace 700 Load Calculation Software.
  • Asist with the development of outside air/Ventilation Calculations.
  • Participate in field observations at various project sites around the DMV area.
  • Full-time, paid position
  • A successful candidate is proactive and able to remain flexible while delivering high quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills: outgoing and personable
  • Highly motivated, creative and collaborative
  • Must be organized and attentive to detail
Job Type: Full-time, Internship
Pay: $20-25 per hour depending on experience, location and seniority
Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate for summer:
  • To DC Wharf office location (hybrid schedule)
  • Note: Relocation or commuting costs are not covered
Experience:
  • Completed coursework related to heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
