Job Description
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Within UN Women, the Programme Support Management Unit (PSMU) provides corporate advisory services and direct support for project and programme development and implementation to ensure the delivery of results on gender equality and women’s empowerment. PSMU leads the development of project and programme management policies, strengthening of corporate project and programme management capacities, and provides increased support to the field and headquarters in non-core project and programme implementation.
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, Project Management Office (PMO), and overall guidance of the Chief of Program Support Management Unit (PSMU), the Project and Programme Management intern will play an active role in strengthening project management oversight by supporting portfolio tracking and key stages of the project lifecycle. The intern will also contribute to data analysis and preparation of analytical information used by HQ, Regional, and Country offices, working in close collaboration with teams across the organization.

Review and analyze project data from corporate systems to support PMO oversight. Conduct internal research and assessment in support of the development of data sets, portfolio snapshots, analytical information, and knowledge management resources.
Learning Objectives:
As part of this assignment, the intern will gain a strong understanding of UN Women’s project lifecycle and implementation modalities, including how projects are designed, monitored, and governed across global offices. They will develop practical experience working with corporate systems, data analysis, project management systems and dashboards. The internship will also strengthen their analytical, communication, and project management skills in a fast‑paced, global PMO environment.
