This position requires a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; candidates with an Associate's degree and two years of clinical experience or an RN license with one year of counseling experience may also apply.

Roxbury Treatment Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., has been a beacon of hope and healing for over 35 years, serving those struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues. Located in Shippensburg, PA., our 112-bed behavioral health facility offers acute psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation services for adults as well as, an adolescent inpatient psychiatric program for youth ages 13-17. We also have two substance use disorder outpatient offices in Carlisle and Chambersburg. We are currently hiring a full-time Counselor to work in our Substance Use Disorder Unit. 

This is a Monday - Friday day position with evening and/or weekend hours as necessary.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for developing and carrying out treatment and direct patient care for adults within the substance abuse detox and rehabilitation program for the recovery of chemical dependency, substance abuse or addictions. The work involves interviewing chemically dependent patients, completing assessments and social histories, conducting individual and group counseling sessions, conducting orientation for new admissions, and developing and implementing individual treatment plans.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field – OR –
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field and one year of clinical experience – OR –
  • Associates Degree from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field and two years of clinical experience - OR -
  • Licensed RN with 1 year of counseling experience in a health/human services field – OR –
  • Certified additions counselor
