Job Title: Race Team Technical Specialist Off-Road

Department: Off-Road Race Team

Reports To: Manager, Off-Road Race Team 

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Location: Murrieta, CA

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Race Team Technical Specialist Off-Road is responsible for providing the highest level of technical service for equipment maintenance to provide the best race team rider success opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans for each race event to ensure that the team’s needs and requirements are met.
  • Monitors and adjusts service input to maximize race success opportunities.
  • Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains parts inventory to assure complete service capability in race event conditions.
  • Prepares required reports for both pre-race and post-race equipment performance reviews.
  • Calibrates and maintains all necessary test equipment in the proper manner.
  • Completes any new product training required to meet rider technical service and product needs. 
  • Ensure that team transport van(s) and equipment is properly maintained, and everything is kept clean and in an appropriate      manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Generally, requires a minimum of one (1) year experience in race team service or equivalent training certification. Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid motorcycle license required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma required. Advanced degree in business or technical related field preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills. 
  • Knowledge of motorcycle industry, technologies, regulations, and performance issues. 
  • Knowledge of company product performance and servicing technologies. 
  • Valid vehicle operator license.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven and constantly changing environment.
  • Flexibility to switch gears with little notice.
  • Excellent organization skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and understand when to escalate potential issues.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be internal and external customer focused.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy; must be team player.
  • Analytical abilities.

  • Flexible traveling on weekends.

JUDGEMENT/REASONING ABILITY: Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise, and diplomacy. Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills and determine when issues need to be escalated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Other factors are:

  • Ability to travel. Travel is extensive in this position. 
  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions.
  • Outside environment for race events; professional, yet casual work environment. 
  • Indoor environment while at office; professional, yet casual work environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as required.
