Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate Range: $20-$23/hour

Designation: Remote working in the Eastern Time Zone. Position involves work-related travel in the United States two times per year including the Annual Conference in March of each year.

Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio, Wisconsin and Texas

Job Description

The Member Service Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for AMS members. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality members service, including processing applications, providing information on AMS member benefits and services, maintaining members accounts, managing phone and written inquiries. This role requires a strong service-oriented approach, tech-savviness, attention to detail and a collaborative approach in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

School and Individual Membership

  • Communicate with schools to ensure that membership renewal applications are complete and submitted accurately and on time, both verbally and in writing
  • Process member applications and invoices and make invoice collection calls for unpaid balances, to ensure timely payment of dues and submit requests for refunds as applicable
  • Use AMS database to enroll new members and maintain  member accounts
  • Answer questions from prospective schools and individuals regarding the benefits of membership and refer potential members to the Member Development Associate
  • Assist with member benefit and engagement initiatives (e.g. AMS Connect, Resource Library, AMS Learning, scholarships, website revisions, etc.)
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of members
  • Undertake departmental tasks as delegated by supervisor

Member Services and Cross-Departmental Tasks

  • Monitor shared inboxes and provide helpful responses to external inquiries in a timely manner
  • Handle incoming calls and member inquiries
  • Participate in annual conference planning with a focus on member experience
  • Register participants for professional development, the annual conference, and events, which may include creating registrations, running registration reports, generating confirmations and invoices, making changes to registration information including cancellations and transfers, and collections.
  • Assist with membership mailings and other communications to members
  • Undertake departmental tasks as designated by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Delivers responsive, empathetic support that enhances the member experience
  • Communicates clearly and professionally verbally and written communication
  • Ensure accuracy in data entry, application processing and member records
  • Resolves inquires and issue with sound judgment and professionalism
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office and learns new tools quickly
  • Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) software
  • Takes ownership of work and adapts to changing priorities
  • Maintains a positive, flexible and collaborative approach in a team environment
