Job Description
The Clinic Care Assistant participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting by: measuring and recording vital signs, placing patient in rooms, preparing patients and families for exam/procedure and providing patient/family support. The Clinic Care Assistant assists the nursing staff and healthcare provider(s) during exams and simple and complex procedures, ensures appropriate visit notes, test and/or x-ray results are available for visit. Performs clinic specific technical skills. Maintains clinic environment including supplies and equipment. May be required to float to other ACU clinics as needed for staffing.
The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician's office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure. The MA may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing
Clinical Care Assistant Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. State of Florida CNA Certification required.
May substitute one of the following for CNA Certification: - Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of professional nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of nursing fundamental coursework and successful completion of the Departmental PCA check-off. - Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of Licensed Practical Nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of nursing fundamental coursework and successful completion of the Departmental PCA check-off. Basic Life Support (CPR) is required (or must be obtained within first month of employment). Person should display initiative, have the ability to multitask and be able to take on responsibilities. Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential. Understanding of medical terminology preferred. Successful completion of practice-specific training requirements and demonstration of practice-specific competencies.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: None provided
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a CNA. Basic Life Support (CPR) is required (or obtained within 1st month of employment). Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR).
Medical Assistant Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Accredited MA certifications include, but are not limited to, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AAMA and AMT. EMT license can be used in lieu of an MA certification. One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred. Person should display initiative, have the ability to multitask, and be able to assume additional responsibilities. Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant. Basic Life Support (CPR) required or must be obtained within first ninety days of employment. Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR). Licensure must be secured through the AHA or Red Cross.
